Chikki is an Indian sweet candy made traditionally made with jaggery and nuts. Like roasted peanuts, Peanut Chikki is eaten with great interest in most of the places in winters. - Peanuts – 200 grams
- Jaggery – 200 grams
- Ghee – 1 tbsp
How to Make Peanut Chikki Recipe
Roast Peanuts
- First of all put the peanuts in a pan and keep it on the gas.
- Then fry on low flame for 8-10 minutes while stirring continuously with a spoon.
- Then turn off the gas and put the peanuts in a plate and let them cool.
- When the peanuts cool down, peel off the skin of the peanuts with both hands.
- Now crack the peanuts slightly.
Prepare Jaggery syrup
- Cut the jaggery into small pieces and put it in a pan and keep it on the gas.
- Add a teaspoon of ghee to it and melt the jaggery on a low flame while stirring continuously.
- After the jaggery melts, cook it while stirring with a spoon for 2 minutes.
- Boil till the syrup turns glossy and thickens
- Now check the consistency of the jaggery syrup. To check, take some water in a bowl and add two drops of syrup to it and let it cool.
- After some 2-3 seconds, lift the jaggery and see it should form hard ball and cut with a snap sound. else boil for another minute and check.
- When the jaggery starts breaking down well, add peanuts to the jaggery and mix it well, and turn off the gas.
- To set the chikki mixture, grease a board with ghee.
- Then spread the chikki mixture on the board.
- Now grease a rolling pin with a little ghee and roll out the chikki thinly.
- Cut the jaggery peanut chikkis when they cool down a bit.
- Allow the rolled chikki to cool slightly.
- When the chikki cools down, cut it into desired pieces with a knife.
- Then after cooling completely, take out the cut pieces from the board slowly with a knife.
- Your jaggery chikki is ready, store it in a sealed container, you can eat it for 2 to 3 months.
