Til ki Chikki is a well known nutritious dessert in North India especially during winters. A very healthy snack good for heart, bones and diabetes patients too, also rich in iron required to maintain healthy haemoglobin levels.

Although til (sesame) is eaten in all over India, but Til ki chikki (sesame mill) is eaten with great passion in North India, especially on Makar Sankrant, Lohri and during winters. Sesame mill is made by adding jaggery syrup or sugar syrup.
Not only chikki a lot of other sweets are made with til. In winter you get to see a lot of til ki gajak, tilapatti or revdi in the market.
Benefits of Til
Eating Til ki Chikki gives the body plenty of calcium. Due to its warmth, it makes bones strong. And eating it in the cold is more beneficial because eating it gives the body the strength to fight against the cold. It helps increase appetite. Prevents cough in winter. Til is very beneficial for cancer and diabetes patients
Ingredients for Til ki Chikki
- 1kg – White sesame seeds (til)
- 1kg – jaggery (gud)
- 100gm – ghee
- 10-15 – Cardamon
- 100-150 – peanuts
How to make Til ki Chikki
1.Wash the sesame seeds (til) and let it dry in the sun. After drying roast the til in a pan on low flame till it turns slightly golden.
2. It will take not more than 2-3 min. Do not over roast it.
3. Grind this roasted til in the grinder keep it coarse.
4. Now fry peanuts in ghee in the pan.
5. Mix jaggery in 100gm water stir it continuously until it is completely melted. Then add peanuts and til in it. Along with it also add ghee in it and stir it properly on medium flame.
6. Now grease the plate with ghee and pour the mixture on it.
7. Let it sit and thicken for 10 min. Cut it in pieces.
8. Now your Til ki Chikki is ready to eat.
9. You can Store your Chakki in a jar for one month.
Note – Jaggery should be melted on the minimum flame otherwise your chikki will become hard.
